Product Description
There's nothing handier than a sturdy, slide-out basket when it comes to storage. This one measures 7-1/4 by 23-1/2 18 inches (height by width by depth). A large capacity is great for towels, jeans, shoes, and many storage accessories, such as smaller boxes. The ball bearing guides ensure that the basket slides in and out smoothly without derailing and causing a fuss. A chrome handle accents the satin-nickel finish for sharp looks. on 2010-05-05It works well and fits nicely in the closet (I have it below the two-drawer maple shelf unit), but for $50 I won't be buying another.
My only complaint is that the screws they give you to connect the brackets to the basket's frame are so short it's ridiculous. They are maybe 1/4" long, and it's hard to get them screwed into the holes properly because of this. It also makes me worry about its sturdiness, as when I was trying to hang the frame up, my hand slipped and the whole thing twisted off the bars - when this happened, one of the screws completely wrenched out of the bracket hole. I got a pair of pliers and re-shaped the bracket and it worked fine, but it makes me wary about putting anything heavy in the basket. Luckily I was only planning to use it to store empty purses, so it should be OK.
Once it's hooked on properly, it glides nicely and feels pretty stable. It's also a nice size, but I would suggest putting it under any other shelving or drawers, as it seems to be the deepest item in the collection. (I actually wish the maple drawers were as deep as this basket.)

on 2010-04-21This is a large, sturdy basket for the Rubbermaid Configurations system. The basket is removable in the installed position. The basket has full extension glides that glide easily with a full load. The basket is deep (approx depth of hanging clothes). The mesh is tight enough for small items.
An important note: if you plan to use this basket in a specific space in your Configurations closet, the VERTICALS MUST BE INSTALLED AT THE RECOMMENDED SPACING; otherwise, the basket cannot be installed.
Also, shelves should not be installed under the basket, as they become difficult to see/reach. The shelves are about half the depth of the basket.
This is a great add on to any Configurations, and I really like these. The only drawback--expensive.

on 2010-03-16Recently purchased almost every item in the Configurations line (Deluxe/Classic kits, pants racks, tie racks, extra shelves, etc), and I think this unit is probably the best of all. As others have said, this is big enough for folded t-shirts/sweaters, very sturdy, glides well, and installs easily.
Downsides: see-through and no top cover, so some may hesistate to use for undergarments (I'm not that shy!). I think The Container Store sells translucent inserts for their Elfa line, but not sure if they fit this unit. Also, gets expensive if you want to replace your dresser entirely. One drawer probably holds the equivalent of a small dresser drawer, so you'd be looking at 4-6 drawers to completely replace a dresser (as I did). This adds up quickly, but still rings up at about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of an equivalent Elfa system.
I did directly compare this unit to the maple drawer unit Rubbermaid 3E30 Configurations 2 Drawer Hanging Unit, Maple, and it's really no comparison! This unit wins hands down - bigger, sturdier, much easier to install. I've reviewed that unit separately, but exchanged almost all of them for this one.
One star off only because the price is out-of-proportion compared to the rest of the line, and I have to stay true to my handle - ValueSeeker!

on 2009-07-24I haven't purchased this product yet, but am very excited by all the positive reviews here and elsewhere re: the configurations closet system by Rubbermaid. I'm trying to plan out my closet space to decide which system (classic vs. deluxe) will work best for me, but I have some questions about which I am trouble getting answers from Rubbermaid.
So, I have a question for those who have installed this product. The dimensions show the width of the baskets as 23.25", but the installation instructions for the configurations closet systems indicates spacing the vertical uprights at 22". I was wanting to confirm the correct spacing dimension before putting holes in my walls:)
