It's just 8 inches high and 4-3/4 inches in diameter, and its 3-cup bowl is ample for many chores in a family household and most chores in a one or two-person household. on 2010-09-04Black and Decker has a super winner here. I owned this chopper for almost 3 years now, possibly even longer.
1st. Chopping...This chopper chops everything fast and slow and pulse, You do this by holding down the top with your palm and pushing the 2 blue buttons on the top with your finger( 1st button fast, 2nd button slow). The ergonomics of this is so comfortable to any hand anyone can use it.
The power of the motor allows you to cut meat, CHEESE ALL OF IT, vegetables,fruits, you can puree or leave chunks all depending on you. Blending dough with bread crumbs or crackers to a fine detail for for crust. Say good by to a slicer or hand chopping or rolling.
The motor on this chopper destroys the competition in this size probably because there are not to many out there. This is Black and Decker using Power Drill Technology on a chopper. These people know motors. Recently I thought after 3 yrs the motor was going bad. It was not, under the lid is a switch which engages the cup were food sometimes gets stuck I cleaned it and it runs like a champ.
2nd. SIZE This is the most convenient chopper out there and for the price top of the line. What do I mean?
A food processor is big, a blender is big. This is 4 cups maybe. You don't take this out of a closet put it together, read a manual about what position to put the cap in for it to work.
You take the top off, put in whatever, put the top on, and push the button. What so great about that?
you don't put it away. It takes 10 seconds to clean it.You don't need a manual. It rocks.
So here it is if you hand grind, if you mortar and petal, if you chop, get rid of the grinder.
3nd. The most important thing is this food chopper is for survivors. Its not for big projects that require the food processors. It's for everyday people who come home and and need to chop it right now.
I'm not paid for this or belong to a vine. So think for yourself before you buy and don't listen to someone else without your own Experience. The only thing I can ask here is ...Trust. This is one good thing in a billion of garbage. Simple..Easy... and works.

on 2010-08-28I bought this to simplify chopping onions. I can't stand the fumes, the tears, the drama of it all. This little beauty is amazing. I try not to get "uni-taskers" as Alton Brown calls them, and I was a little concerned this might be considered one, but I got the Food Chopper just before Thanksgiving last year and went to town.
I used it to get the entire meal prepped and I saved so much time and it was effortless. All of the onions, celery, carrots, mushrooms, you name it that I needed to saute for the stuffing was chopped in no time. Garlic is super easy. The only thing you need to be concious of is not overfilling the bowl and to cut your veggies, etc into similar sizes so they get chopped uniformly, but that goes for any processor.
I use this all the time now for prepping bases for my soups, roasts, salsas. It is wonderful for chopping garlic in bulk, I still use a knife for one or two cloves, but if I need to mince a bunch, out comes the Food chopper and it is done in seconds.
It really is a great little tool for the kitchen when you have a project that you don't want to lug out the giant food processor for, or its just too big to do with your knife and you want to save some time.

on 2010-08-18I love this! It is amazing...one touch and voila! It chops so quickly I could not believe it. Really did not expect it to work so well....it is better than the multi-speed blender I had been using for chopping and mixing.

on 2010-08-15The Black & Decker Food Chopper is very easy to use and it does a fantastic job. I recommend it for preparing meals for 8 or less people. It is all you need.

on 2010-08-12We have numerous gadgets and appliances lurking about our cupboards and this is one I actually use on a regular basis. It is quick and simple to use - I don't have to retrieve numerous parts and assemble them, and clean-up is a breeze. What I like about the B&D vs. others is that it doesn't have an extra base, since the motor is in the top, making it very compact (the base is the bowl). It's safe to use because it won't work unless all three parts are together. After 7 or 8 years of use, the bowl has cracked, so it has leaked, and I am now purchasing a second one - seems like a good lifespan for a motorized product that was purchased for less than 20.00.
